What is Solution Focused Hypnotherapy?

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy combines the use of Psychotherapy in the form of Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Hypnosis and elements of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Nero-Linguistic Programming (NLP). Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is heavily based in Neuroscience and includes a neuro-scientific explanation of how the brain responds and reacts when we experience anxiety and stress related issues such as Depression, OCD and Addictions. When we understand how our Brain works, it can help us to understand how our Mind works.

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy also differs from other forms of therapy as it does not require the therapist to delve into the clients past or re-visit any past trauma. In many cases re-visiting and re-living the past can prove to be counter-productive to moving on from painful or troublesome issues. The key principle of Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is to focus on the present and the future and not upon the past. We will consider what you would like to achieve (the Solution) rather than what brought you to therapy (the Problem). Solution Focused Hypnotherapy uses Hypnosis in the form of guided relaxation. This relaxed state is very safe and normal and can best be described as being similar to when we daydream. We can experience this state quite often when our mind wanders, for example, when we are driving, walking, exercising or watching TV.

People report this as being a very relaxing and pleasant experience and is a very safe state, Hypnosis is not mind control and you cannot be made to think or do anything against your will. In summary, Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is effective, safe, non- invasive, has no side effects and can achieve significant, positive changes in a relatively short space of time.
